Super Mario Odyssey Amiibo Functionality. All Super Mario Odyssey Amiibo Figures are compatible with Super Mario Odyssey, and most of them will randomly award Mario bonus hearts and coins.
To use you Super Mario Odyssey Amiibo just hold the right direction button for a few seconds then touch the amiibo of your choice. If Mario’s hearts are full, these free amiibo hearts will not grant Mario bonus coins.
Amiibos have special bonuses when scanned anywhere in the world with no time or use limit:
> Bowser amiibos highlight purple regional coins on your screen, but not on your map.
> Peach amiibos will give Mario a Life-Up Heart.
> Mario amiibos make Mario immune to damage for about 30 seconds.

Uncle amiibo and Power Moons
You can also use your amiibos to help you find Power Moons. After visiting Cascade Kingdom, Mario will meet Uncle amiibo. Uncle amiibo appears in every kingdom and is always near the Odyssey.
Talk to Uncle amiibo to scan up to 3 amiibos that will then take 5 minutes each to go search for Power Moon locations. Once the amiibo finds a Power Moon, the location is marked on your map.
The 5-minute wait time is across all kingdoms. If you change kingdoms while amiibos are searching, Uncle amiibo will mark the Power Moon locations on the kingdom map you’re in.

Super Mario Odyssey Amiibo Outfits
Certain amiibo used with Uncle amiibo unlock Mario outfits. Nintendo has said all outfits unlocked with amiibos can also be discovered without the amiibos. Here are some of the cool outfits Mario can unlock with the amiibos:
